Dick DeHaven ’60 played 3 years at end and one at halfback for the Battling Bishop football team, captaining the squad to a 7-1-1 record as a senior. He was a Methodist All-America and honorable mention All-Ohio selection that fall. As a junior, he was named first-team All-Ohio and honorable mention Williamson All-America. DeHaven set a school record with 61 career receptions, returned punts and kickoffs for 4 years, and handled the Bishop punting chores. A sprinter on the Bishop track & field team, he helped Ohio Wesleyan to 6 consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference indoor and outdoor titles (1957-59), running on 3 league champion relay squads and picking up one third-place finish in the outdoor 220-yard dash. He covered that distance in :21.6 and the 100-yard dash in :09.9.
