A 3-time all-region and 4-time all-conference selection as a goalkeeper in field hockey, Liz Shipps ’01 set the school career record for saves. She started all 17 games her freshman year and went on to rank second in the North Coast Athletic Conference in saves percentage (.883) on the way to second-team all-conference and second-team all-region honors, and was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year. As a sophomore, she started 17 of the 18 games in which she played and set a school season record with 200 saves. She ranked third in the NCAC with a saves percentage of .866. She repeated as a second-team all-conference and second-team all-region selection. Her junior year, she started 17 of the 18 games in which she played and went on to record 154 saves, and her saves percentage of .856 ranked fourth in the NCAC. She was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick and a second-team all-region selection. As a senior, she started all 17 games in which she played, making 158 saves, and her saves percentage of .849 ranked third in the NCAC. She was a first-team All-NCAC selection. She was selected to play for the North in the NFHCA Division III Senior Game. She set the Ohio Wesleyan career record for saves (693) and totaled 10½ shutouts.
