Richard Gordon ’62 was a 4-year letterman in tennis. He won the NCAA regional singles championship in 1961 and finished as regional runner-up in 1960 and 1962. Also an outstanding doubles player, he was part of a doubles pair that won NCAA regional and Ohio Athletic Conference championships in 1960 and 1962, and part of an OAC doubles runner-up team in 1959. His 4-year record in singles was 61-30, with half the losses coming to Division I foes, and his 4-year record in doubles was 61-18, with only 8 losses to Division III schools. His postseason record in singles and doubles combined was 36-8, including a mark of 19-3 in NCAA regional competition. He helped the Bishops win both OAC and NCAA regional titles in 1960 and 1961, plus the OAC title in 1962.
