John Nye ’91 was an unusual 5-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection in baseball after receiving a fifth year of eligibility because of a season-ending elbow injury his sophomore year. A pitcher, Nye was an honorable mention All-NCAC choice his fifth year after helping the Bishops advance to the NCAA Division III regional tournament. As a senior, he was a first-team All-NCAC and honorable mention all-region choice after leading the league with 66 strikeouts. He was named NCAC Pitcher of the Year, first-team All-NCAC, and second-team all-region as a junior, sharing the league lead in wins and ranking second in strikeouts. He was having his best season as a sophomore before bone chips in his elbow put an early end to his season, but still ranked fourth in the league in strikeouts and ERA and was an honorable mention All-NCAC selection. As a freshman, he was a second-team All-NCAC pick. Nye set Ohio Wesleyan career records for wins, games started, innings pitched and strikeouts.
