Harley “Chick” Pearce ’27 was a football and track standout. He was the first OWU player in 8 years to score against the Ohio State Buckeyes, scoring on an 80-yard touchdown run. In track, he was the top point scorer in the Big Six track meet his sophomore and junior years. His speciality was the hurdles, receiving national acclaim. He was elected captain of the 1927 track team but did not compete his senior year.
