A 4-year letterman, he was one of Ohio Wesleyan’s finest distance runners. He lettered 4 years in cross country, competing on some of Ohio Wesleyan’s best teams. As a senior, he was first on the team twice and second 5 times. He finished sixth overall (second on the team) at the Ohio Athletic Conference meet but did not compete at the NCAA regional meet. Ohio Wesleyan placed second at the OAC championship, finishing just 9 points out of first place. Ohio Wesleyan finished fourth at the NCAA regional meet, but only 3 teams went on to the national championship meet that season. His sophomore year, he was 16th overall at the OAC championship meet as the Bishops finished second, 29 points behind. His freshman year, he led the Bishops with a 35th-place overall finish at the All-Ohio meet and was 19th overall at the OAC meet as OWU finished third. In track, he finished third in the 2-mile run at the OAC indoor meet his freshman year, helping OWU to a second-place finish. Outdoors, he placed sixth in the 10,000-meter run to help the Bishops finish fifth at the OAC meet. He missed his sophomore season with an injury, but returned as a junior to finish fourth in the mile as OWU placed fourth at the OAC indoor meet, then finished second in the 1500 as OWU was fifth in the OAC outdoor meet. As a senior, he won the OAC title in the 1000 and was sixth in the 880 as OWU finished fourth indoors, then finished second in the 1500 as OWU was fourth outdoors.
