Dennis Hearns ’80 was a record-setting hurdler in track & field. He capped his Ohio Wesleyan indoor career by winning the Don F. Frail Award as the Most Outstanding Runner at the Ohio Athletic Conference championship meet. He won the 60-yard hurdles in a school- and field house-record :07.4, ran on the OAC champion mile relay team, and finished third in the high jump. He won the OAC indoor high jump title as a junior with a school-record 6-8 and set the Ohio Wesleyan outdoor high jump record with an effort of 6-8¼. As a senior, he also competed in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III championship meet.
