Dan Ventres ’52 still holds the Ohio Wesleyan outdoor long jump record with a mark of 24-5¾. His senior year, he won the long jump and tied for second in the high jump at the OAC indoor championship meet. Outdoors, he was unbeaten in the long jump through the regular season, then in the OAC championship that season, he fouled on his first 2 attempts and then jumped 24-5¾ on the third attempt, setting OWU and Selby Field records. Ohio Wesleyan won its second straight OAC title that year. As a junior, he helped the Bishops win the first-ever OAC indoor championship meet, placing second in the long jump. Outdoors that season, he won the long jump in 5 meets and finished third in the event at the OAC championship meet, helping Ohio Wesleyan to the conference title.
