Chris Vorenkamp ’03 won All-America and Academic All-America® honors as a midfielder in men’s soccer. He lettered as a midfielder as a freshman as the Bishops went 18-3-1, won the NCAC championship, and finished as regional runner-up. His sophomore year, he was named to the adidas® Invitational all-tournament team. Ohio Wesleyan went 23-1 and advanced to the national quarterfinals. As a junior, he won a starting midfield spot, then moved to the backfield in midseason and was a key figure as the Bishops allowed only 6 goals in their final 18 games. He was named to the all-tournament team at the NCAC tournament, and went on to win second-team all-conference honors. He scored the game-winning goal in the NCAA regional championship game against Kalamazoo. Ohio Wesleyan went 19-6-1, won the NCAC championship, and advanced to the national semifinals. His senior year, he led the team with 11 goals, and his 22 points ranked second overall. He was named MVP of the Fred Myers Invitational after wins over Olivet and Bethany, was named to the all-tournament team at the adidas® Invitational, and was named MVP of the NCAC tournament, scoring the game-winner in the title game against Allegheny. In the NCAA tournament, he scored the game-winner in a first-round game against Pitt-Greensburg. He received first-team All-NCAC, All-Ohio, and all-region honors and was the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year. He was a third-team All-America selection and a third-team Academic All-America® choice. During his 4 years, Ohio Wesleyan was 78-14-3 (.837) with 4 conference championships, a national semifinal appearance, and 2 quarterfinal appearances.
