Chris Eccles ’09 was a 3-time All-America midfielder in lacrosse who also was a 2-time pick as North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He opened his freshman season on the top midfield line, and finished with 14 goals and 7 assists as Ohio Wesleyan went 10-4 and won the NCAC championship with a 5-0 record. He was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year and was an honorable mention All-NCAC selection. As a sophomore, he finished with 37 goals and 23 assists for 60 points, leading the NCAC in goals/game and points/game. The 60 points marked the second-highest season total for an OWU midfielder. He was named NCAC Player of the Year and was an honorable mention All-America pick. His junior year, he finished with 30 goals and 31 assists for 61 points, leading the NCAC in assists per game and ranking second in points per game, with the 61 points becoming the second-highest season total for an OWU midfielder. He repeated as NCAC Player of the Year and was a third-team All-America choice. As a senior, he finished with 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points. He was a first-team All-NCAC and honorable mention All-America pick. During his 4 years, he compiled 99 goals (third-most by an OWU midfielder), 84 assists (second-most by an OWU midfielder), and 183 points (second-most by an OWU midfielder). Ohio Wesleyan went 41-21 (.661) overall and 17-3 (.850) in the NCAC, winning 2 NCAC championships and making 4 NCAA playoff appearances.
