Chad Poling ’04 was a 3-time All-America selection who capped his career by winning the individual championship at NCAA Division III men’s golf tournament. As a freshman, he won first-team All-NCAC honors after finishing second in the NCAC tournament and led OWU at the NCAA Division III tournament, tying for 23rd place and receiving an honorable mention All-America citation. Ohio Wesleyan finished second in the NCAC tournament and 14th in the NCAA Division III tournament. His sophomore year, he won first-team All-NCAC status with a second-place finish at the NCAC tournament and led the Bishops at the NCAA Division III tournament, tying for 26th place among individuals. Ohio Wesleyan won the NCAC championship and finished seventh at the NCAA Division III tournament. As a junior, he was a second-team All-NCAC honoree after tying for 10th in the league tournament, and went on to tie for 15th in the national tournament and receive third-team All-America honors. Ohio Wesleyan won the NCAC championship and tied for third place at the NCAA Division III tournament. His senior year, he won medalist honors in the final 6 tournaments of the spring season, including the NCAC tournament and the NCAA Division III tournament. He won the NCAC tournament and was named NCAC Player of the Year, and won the NCAA Division III tournament after shooting a school-record 66 in the first round to set an NCAA record for most shots under par (-6) during a tournament round. He also set school records with his 36-hole total of 137 at Muskingum and his 72-hole total of 282 at the NCAA Division III tournament. Ohio Wesleyan won the NCAC championship and finished seventh at the NCAA Division III championship.
