Thad Ingersoll ’93 was a 5-time honorable mention All-American and a 7-time All-American as a member of relay teams in swimming. He made an immediate impact as a freshman, winning the 200 fly and setting a school record in the 400 IM at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship, then taking honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM with 12th-place finishes in each event. He had his best season as a sophomore, winning NCAC titles in the 200 fly, 400 IM and 500 freestyle and helping the 800 freestyle relay team finish second at the conference meet, then taking honorable mention All-America honors with a 12th in the 400 IM and a 15th in the 200 fly. As a junior, he won the consolation heat in the 200 fly and took all-league honors with a third in the 800 freestyle relay. He helped the 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays teams to honorable mention All-America honors with respective 13th and 16th-place finishes. His senior year, he was part of the 800 freestyle relay team that turned in a fourth-place finish — the best ever for an OWU relay team — and added honorable mention All-America honors with a 12th in the 400 free relay and a 16th in the 200 free relay. OWU tied for 13th in the nation that year, the team’s best-ever national finish.
