Beth Burns ’79 played basketball for 4 years, softball for 4 years, and field hockey for 1 year. She led the Bishop basketball team in rebounding her sophomore, junior, and senior years and led the team in scoring her sophomore year. Ohio Wesleyan won the state consolation championship in 1977-78, and the 1978-79 basketball team compiled an 18-1 regular-season record, the best performance in Ohio Wesleyan history. Burns served as basketball team captain her junior and senior years and as softball captain her senior year. In 1979, she received the Carolyn Tarbell Award, presented to Ohio Wesleyan’s outstanding female athlete.
