Ryan Spicer ’94 was a 2-time All-America safety in football, helping to spearhead the defenses on some of OWU’s best teams. He took over a starting spot as a sophomore and went on to lead the North Coast Athletic Conference with 5 interceptions on the way to second-team All-NCAC honors. He ranked fourth on the team with 43 solos, 30 assists and 73 total tackles, and his 7 pass breakups led the Bishops. Ohio Wesleyan went 8-2 that season. As a junior, he was a first-team All-NCAC and an honorable mention Football Gazette All-America pick after leading the team with 72 solos, 31 assists, 103 total tackles and 4 interceptions. His 72 solo stops were the fourth-highest single-season figure in the OWU record books. His senior year, he was a third-team AP Little All-America and an honorable mention Football Gazette All-America selection along with a first-team All-NCAC pick. He led the Bishops with 52 solo stops, 77 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 6 breakups. His career total of 181 solo tackles was fourth on the OWU list, while his 13 career interceptions tied for second. He also lettered 3 times in basketball, establishing himself as a fan favorite with his 3-point shooting touch and relentless defense.
