In 2010, women’s golf became a varsity sport, beginning with the 2010-11 academic year. It was the first varsity sport to be added at Ohio Wesleyan since 1998, when softball was elevated to varsity status for the 2000 season. Ohio Wesleyan opened its schedule with a dual match against Wooster. Jana Shipley took over as head coach of the newly-formed Battling Bishop women’s golf team in June, 2010. Shipley led the Bishops to a sixth-place finish in the inaugural North Coast Athletic Conference championship.

The women’s golf team finished second in three tournaments and placed fifth in the NCAC championship in 2011-12. The Bishops won one tournament in 2012-2013, finished second in another, and posted a pair of third-place efforts. Ohio Wesleyan finished fifth in the NCAC standings. In 2013, the women’s golf team won one tournament and tied for second in another before finishing fifth in the NCAC standings.

Courtney Tincher ’15 won All-NCAC honors in 2012 and 2014.  In 2016, Amy Greenwood ’16 and Ana Borish ’19 won All-NCAC recognition.

Mill Creek Golf Club is home to Ohio Wesleyan’s golf program. Mill Creek Golf Club packs much more of a challenge than similar golf courses of its length. At 6300 yards from the back tees, the course is appealing to seniors and beginners but the hard, fast greens and tight fairways present a formidable test for all skill levels. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.
