Mike Rissell ’79 was a 3-time All-America honoree in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, finishing third, second and fourth during NCAA Division III competition. Rissell also earned All-America status in the 110-meter high hurdles, finishing second and fifth in the Division III championships. At the time of his induction, Rissell still held 7 Ohio Wesleyan track records, 2 of which also were Ohio Athletic Conference standards. He won 4 OAC outdoor titles in 3 different events, and one OAC indoor title. Rissell also placed second in the OAC championships in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, the 100-meter high hurdles, the 1600 relay and the 440-yard dash. While at Ohio Wesleyan, Rissell also won his first indoor 500-meter race at the USTFF Midwest Championships.
