Matt Colvig ’95 was an All-America swimmer who helped Ohio Wesleyan to two consecutive top-20 finishes at the NCAA Division III championship meet. He earned 3 All-America and 4 honorable mention All-America citations, with 5 of those as member of relay teams, and 5 All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors, with 3 coming as a member of relay teams. His junior year, he finished second in the 200 breaststroke in a school-record 2:09.85 and was sixth in the 100 breaststroke, and helped the 400 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams to third-place finishes at the NCAC championship meet. At the NCAA meet that year, he swam a 2:07.50 in the prelims to seize the top seed going into the finals of the 200 breaststroke, and earned All-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the event. He also placed 19th in the 100 breaststroke and was part of the Bishops’ 400 medley relay team that won All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in a school-record 3:30.57, as well as part of OWU’s 200 medley relay team that won honorable mention All-America honors with a 16th-place finish. Ohio Wesleyan finished eighth in the team standings, the Bishops’ best showing ever. As a senior, he won All-NCAC honors with a second-place finish in the 200 breast. He won honorable mention All-America honors with a 16th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke and was part of relay teams that finished fifth in the 200 medley, 10th in the 200 freestyle and 11th in the 400 freestyle. Ohio Wesleyan finished 17th in the team standings that year.
