Matt Byers ’86 was an All-America midfielder in soccer. He was a first-team All-America, All-Mideast, and All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection as a senior, setting Ohio Wesleyan and North Coast Athletic Conference records with 4 assists in a single game. He was named NCAC Offensive Player of the Year his junior year, also taking second-team all-region honors. As a sophomore, he was a first-team All-NCAC and second-team All-Mideast pick, and his freshman year, he was an honorable mention all-region and second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference choice. He finished his career ranked second on Ohio Wesleyan’s all-time assists list.
