Martin Forman ’99 capped his Bishop career by winning both All-America and Academic All-America® honors after leading the Ohio Wesleyan men’s soccer team to its first national championship. His senior year, he set an NCAA Division III record by scoring goals :12 apart against Oberlin. The biggest goal of his career came in the national semifinal against Williams, where he pounced on a rebound and scored in a 1-0 Bishop win. He led the team in scoring with 12 goals and 8 assists and received first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference, first-team All-Ohio, and second-team All-America honors, and was a first-team Academic All-America® selection and voted the Academic All-America® of the Year, the first Ohio Wesleyan student-athlete to be so honored. As a junior, he was an honorable mention All-NCAC selection. He scored the game-winning goal in the NCAA regional championship game against Alma as Ohio Wesleyan advanced to the national quarterfinals. During his 4 seasons, Ohio Wesleyan went 64-20-5, including a playoff record of 10-1-1, won 2 conference titles, and advanced to the national quarterfinals 3 times.
