Larry Lays ’60 earned 4 letters in soccer and 4 letters in swimming during his career. He was selected for the All-Ohio and All-Midwest soccer teams in 1958 and 1959 and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player both years. In his senior year, Lays served as captain of the soccer squad and co-captained the swimming team. In swimming, he anchored an Ohio Athletic Conference record-setting 400-yard medley relay team and gained another gold medal in the 400-yard freestyle relay. He also won 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals in OAC competition and set the Ohio Wesleyan record in the 220-yard freestyle.
