An All-America outfielder in baseball, Joe Loudenslager ’04 was one of the best hitters in school history. He was named North Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year, as well as second-team All-NCAC and second-team all-region, as a freshman after batting .390 with 6 HR and 44 RBI. Ohio Wesleyan was 42-9, won the NCAC championship with a 15-0 record, and finished third in the NCAA Mideast Regional. As a sophomore, he was a first-team All-NCAC and second-team all-region pick. He batted .368 with 8 HR and 60 RBI (second in NCAC), and led the league in runs scored (68) and doubles (22) and ranked third in hits. Ohio Wesleyan went 41-12, won the NCAC championship, and finished third at the NCAA Mideast Regional. His junior year, he batted .438 (second in the NCAC) with 6 HR and 51 RBI (third in the NCAC) on the way to first-team All-NCAC and all-region status and third-team All-America honors. He led the league in runs scored (62) and ranked second in hits (78) and third in total bases. Ohio Wesleyan went 35-13, including a mark of 10-2 in the NCAC, and advanced to the NCAA Division III regional. As a senior, he was a first-team All-NCAC and all-region selection after batting .345 with 10 HR (tied for fifth in NCAC) and 42 RBI. Ohio Wesleyan was 31-17, won the NCAC championship, and finished second at the NCAA Mideast Regional. During his career, he batted .390 with 30 HR (fourth on OWU career list) and 197 RBI (third all-time). He set OWU career records in runs scored (257) and at-bats (751) and ranked second on career lists in hits (293), doubles (60), and total bases (.451). During his 4 years, the Bishops were 149-51 (.745), including a mark of 47-8 (.854) in NCAC play, with 4 NCAA playoff appearances and 3 conference championships.
