Ike Reid ’00 was a 2-time All-America selection as a football defensive end. He compiled 24 tackles, including 3 sacks, during his freshman season. After missing the 1996 season, he returned in 1997 to rank third among Bishop defensive linemen with 78 tackles, with his 4 sacks ranking second on the team. As a junior, he led OWU defensive linemen with 76 tackles (51 solo, 25 assists). His 13 sacks (for loss of 90 yards) that year ranked third on the all-time Bishop list, and he totaled 17 tackles for loss. He was a first-team All-NCAC selection, and was a third-team selection to both Hewlett-Packard and Football Gazette All-America teams. As a senior, he ranked third on the team with 84 tackles (38 solo, 46 assists). His 6 sacks shared the team lead, and his 18 tackles for loss led the team, helping OWU lead the NCAC in total defense and scoring defense. He repeated as a first-team All-NCAC selection and was a second-team All-America pick by Hewlett-Packard and third-team by the Football Gazette. His career totals of 26 sacks and 49 tackles for loss both ranked second on the Ohio Wesleyan lists. Reid also was 4-year letterman in track & field, winning 12 all-conference citations, including 4 conference championships and one conference Player of the Year selection. He won the NCAC discus title (149-11) and finished second in the shot put outdoors his freshman year. As a sophomore, he won the outdoor shot put title (49-½) and finished third in the discus. His junior year, he again finished second in the shot put indoors, then was named Outstanding Field Performer in the NCAC outdoor meet, winning the shot (49-¾) and the discus (146-9). He did not compete in track during the 1999 season but returned in 2000 and finished second in the shot put as OWU won the NCAC indoor title. He finished second in the discus as the Bishops won their first-ever All-Ohio outdoor title, then finished second in the discus and third in the shot to help OWU win the NCAC outdoor championship.
