Francesca Smith ’93 was an All-America selection in both lacrosse and field hockey. Her freshman year, she was an honorable mention all-region and second-team All-NCAC pick in lacrosse. As a sophomore, she led the team and ranked second in the NCAC in scoring with 33 goals and 29 assists. As a sophomore, she won first-team All-America honors on both USWLA and Brine/IWLCA teams, as well as first-team All-NCAC honors. She suffered a career-ending knee injury during a preseason scrimmage her junior year. Also a 3-year letterwinner as a field hockey midfielder, she helped OWU go 17-2-0 and won the NCAC championship with a 12-0 record as a freshman. She received second-team All-NCAC and second-team all-region honors as a sophomore, and was a first-team All-America, all-region and All-NCAC selection as a junior. Ohio Wesleyan went 16-3-3 that year, including a 9-0-3 record in NCAC play that gave the Bishops their fifth straight NCAC title. During her 3 seasons, the Bishops were 48-10-3, won 3 NCAC titles and reached the NCAA Division III playoffs 3 times.
