Liz Phelps ’84 was a 3-time All-America selection in the heptathlon in track & field. She finished second in the NCAA Division III championship meet in both her sophomore and senior seasons, and placed third in the event her junior year. She also competed in the high jump and the 110-meter hurdles in 2 NCAA Division III championship meets, narrowly missing All-America honors with seventh-place finishes in both events as a junior. Her senior year, in the final Centennial Athletic Conference championship meet, she won the heptathlon and the 110-meter hurdles, finished second in the long jump, triple jump, and 400-meter hurdles, and ran on the 400- and 1600-meter relay teams. She also lettered 4 times in volleyball, earning first-team All-CAC honors as a senior.
