Dwight Kane

Class of 1929
Inducted in 1964

Dwight Kane ’29 was perhaps the greatest hurdler in OWU history, so great in fact, that Coach George Gauthier called him “the best college hurdler in the country.” In his junior year, he was the NCAA 120-yard high hurdles champion, the first Bishop ever to win an NCAA championship. He also set indoor records in the 60-yard low hurdles and 65-yard high hurdles and advanced to the 1928 Olympic team finals in tryouts.
