Craig Anderson ’97 was a 3-time first-team Academic All-America® and multiple All-America selection in football. He moved into the starting lineup his sophomore year and led the Bishops in tackles with 151, intercepted 3 passes and led the Bishops with 5 pass breakups. He was a second-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference pick, an honorable mention pick on the Division III SIDs All-America team and a first-team GTE Academic All-America® selection. As a junior, he again led the Bishops in tackles with 122, including 3 sacks and 6 for loss. He repeated as a second-team All-NCAC, first-team GTE Academic All-America® and honorable mention HP All-America selection, was a third-team pick on the Football Gazette All-America team, and was one of 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Award (outstanding player in NCAA Division III). His senior year, he again led the team in tackles. He led or shared the team lead in tackles in 8 games, and his 22 tackles against Earlham matched his career high, with his 15 solos in that game tying for second place on the OWU single-game list. He was a first-team pick to All-NCAC, GTE Academic All-America® and Football Gazette All-America teams and a second-team pick to the HP All-America team, and again was one of 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Award. During his career, he set OWU records with 259 solo tackles, 218 assists and 477 total tackles.
