Clay Small ’72 was a 2-time All-America selection in soccer. He was a second-team pick in 1971 and an honorable mention selection in 1970. He was a 3-year starter and was a first-team All-Midwest, first-team All-Ohio, and second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference pick both his junior and senior seasons. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player his sophomore year. He led the Bishops to an undefeated regular season in 1971 and Ohio Wesleyan’s first OAC title, and helped the team to back-to-back NCAA playoff berths in 1970-71. He served as team co-captain as a senior and completed his career at the Ohio Senior All-Star game.
