Barry Poulson ’59 was an outstanding freestyler and diver on the OWU swimming team. By the end of his first season at OWU, he had won the 50-yard freestyle 8 times, including a record-setting swim at the Ohio Athletic Conference meet. He also won the 100-yard freestyle 6 times, won the OAC diving crown, and demolished 11 records. Poulson continued to shine his senior year, setting 7 more records that season, then placing first in the 100-yard free, second in the 200-yard free, second in diving, and anchored the 200 and 400 relay teams to victories at the OAC championship meet. Davis went on to compete at the NCAA All-College swimming meet, finishing 13th in the 50-yard freestyle and 14th in the 100-yard freestyle.
