Soni Lloyd ’97 finished his Ohio Wesleyan career by winning the NCAA Division III championship in the 200-meter dash, becoming Ohio Wesleyan’s first national champion in a running event. A 20-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference honoree in track & field, he won the NCAC championship in the 200 his freshman year. He was named Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet at the NCAC indoor championship his junior year, winning the 300-meter dash, finishing second in the 400 and helping both 400 and 1600 relay teams to wins. He also was named NCAC Track Athlete of the Year outdoors, winning the 200 and 400 (in an NCAC-record :48.30) and helping the 400 relay team to a win. He earned All-America honors as part of the 400 relay team, helping set a school-record :41.51 in the prelims and finishing fourth in :41.60 in the finals. As a senior, he was named NCAC Sprinter of the Year after winning the 100 and 200, running on the first-place 1600 relay and helping the 400 relay place second at the NCAC outdoor meet. He won the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Division III championship meet in a hand time of :20.80. He also won 4 letters in football.
