Mike Warnes ’90 was a 3-time All-America defenseman in men’s lacrosse. A cornerstone of rugged defensive teams that advanced to NCAA Division III championship game in 3 straight seasons, he was a 4-time first-team All-Midwest Lacrosse Association and All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection. His freshman year, he helped the team to a 14-3 record and the first of 3 straight title game appearances. The Bishop defense allowed 89 goals that season, the lowest figure since 1972. He added second-team All-America honors as a sophomore as the Bishops went 15-2, allowed only 90 goals all season, and hosted the Division III championship game. He was an honorable mention All-America pick as a junior as the team posted a 13-4 record. He jumped to first-team All-America as a senior and was picked to compete in the North-South all-star game. He was credited with 4 assists on the season, setting a Bishop mark for assists by a defenseman.
